Micro Climat  proposes a journey which goes through three installations : Rideau, Points and Cercles, located at different places in Rentilly’s park. They are placed in order to interact with the landscape and the visitors. These installations were based on the characteristics of the garden, but they also questioned the concept of the “Jardin à la Française” by altering its symmetry and bringing disorder to that otherwise orderly environment. They also interact with each other, in order to form a whole and to modify visitors’ perception and walk in the park.

Pour le Parc Culturel de Rentilly, je propose un parcours autour de trois œuvres : Rideau, Points, Cercles. Ces installations disposées à différents endroits du parc sont conçues pour interagir aussi bien avec le paysage qu’avec les visiteurs du château. En prenant appui sur les caractéristiques du jardin, j’ai donc imaginé ces œuvres dans le but de perturber et de contrecarrer le principe du jardin à la française, d’en altérer la symétrie et de remettre en cause le triomphe de l’ordre sur le désordre. De plus ces trois installations se répondent et jouent ensemble pour composer un tout et modifier la perception et la déambulation des visiteurs dans le parc.

Cercles, 2012
White painting. Variables dimensions.

This installation is based on the work «Points». A series of convolutions is drawn in white on the lawn of the park. The central points of these circles are the three vortices. Like a shockwave, the arcs of the circle spread throughout the whole garden to parasite the already existing lines (paths, vanishing point lines, etc.). These circles come to play with the original design of the garden and modify perspectives and points of view, while attracting the gaze to new axes. These waves of white paintings offer a new stroll to the visitors.

Peinture blanche. Dimensions variables.

Cette installation prend appui sur l’oeuvre Points. Une série de circonvolutions est dessinée en blanc sur l’ensemble des pelouses du parc. Le point central de ces cercles est la série des trois vortex. Telle une onde de choc les arcs de cercle se répandent dans l’ensemble du jardin venant parasiter les lignes déjà existantes. Ces cercles viennent jouer avec le dessin originel du jardin, pour modifier perspectives et points de vue, tout en attirant les regards sur de nouveaux axes. Ces ondes de peintures blanches offrent également une nouvelle déambulation aux visiteurs.

Pumps, timers. Variable dimensions.

This installation consists of three points located in the first basin, the closest to the castle. With a turbine system, three vortices are formed on the surface of the water, giving the impression that they are three siphons. Although discreet, this artwork is funny and makes a mockery of the very precise and rigid organization of the French garden. Indeed, these three vortex-generated waves go against the straight lines of the park.

Moteurs, hélices. Dimensions variables.

Cette installation se compose de trois points disséminés dans le premier bassin, le plus proche du château. Par un système de turbine, trois vortex se forment à la surface de l’eau donnant l’impression qu’il s’agit de trois siphons. À la fois discrète, cette œuvre n’en reste pas moins drôle et tourne en dérision l’organisation très précise et rigide du jardin à la française. En effet, ces trois vortex créés des ondes allant à l’encontre des tracés rectilignes du parc.

Rideau, 2012

This installation transforms the park into a stage. Indeed, a giant curtain opening and closing at any time, focuses the look of the walker on the main view of the garden, in order to underline the vanishing-point at which the garden’s lines join. By this art installation, the gaze of the walker is so transformed into an event and is challenged because what is emphasized is nothing more than what is there permanently.

Cette installation transforme le parc en scène de théâtre. Un rideau géant bloque par intermittence la vue principale de la perspective depuis le château, parasitant ainsi le point de vue et transformant le regard du promeneur en événement. L’intérêt du spectateur est mis à l’épreuve par cette installation car ce qui est souligné n’est rien de plus que ce qui est là en permanence.
